Ford's Theatre
LOCATION
Washington, DC
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, Ford's Theatre reunited—for the first time since April 1865—an extraordinary collection of artifacts related to the president and this nation-changing event. H+R crafted a narrative arc that traces the events of that night and its aftermath as a series of “theatrical acts,” each marked by a pivotal object that advances the storyline. The individuals who experienced the tragic event firsthand are introduced as characters who speak to the unfolding events and serve as eyewitnesses through their carefully researched first person quotes. Each individual’s story finds a conclusion at the epilogue, where visitors learn of the assassination’s tragic consequences for all so closely involved.
