COSi approached H+R to conceptualize an exciting and highly interactive exhibition on Egyptian mummies that conveys the excitement of an archaeological dig and discovery. The center of the exhibition was designed to simulate the open plaza at Saqqara in Egypt and featured a number of hands-on mechanical interactives as well as group digital interactives. Visitors then explored a number of surrounding passageways "in search of the mummy." Robotic vehicles controlled by visitors ventured into blocked areas and tight passages. A tomb gallery provided the experience’s capping moment. The project’s specific audience was young girls, ages 9-13, and was designed to promote scientific literacy and careers in science.
