Jones Point Park

CLIENT National Park Service and City of Alexandria

LOCATION Alexandria, VA

Jones Point sits in the shadow of the mammoth Woodrow Wilson Bridge, just down the Potomac River from the national capital. Though today it's a serene riverfront park, the Point's story is one of evolution and adaptation. The park explores millennia of human use of this land, where Native Americans once hunted and fished, a Revolutionary War encampment took up guard, Union forces built a Civil War-era fort, surveyors fixed Washington's southernmost cornerstone and World War I shipbuilders supported the war effort. H+R developed an interpretive trail to explore the site, featuring tactile bronze castings, commissioned illustrations and etched artwork in granite bases.
