H+R worked with landscape architect Rhodeside & Harwell and the National Arboretum to develop the first-ever comprehensive signage package for one of the best bonsai and penjing collections in the country. One of the great challenges of this signage project was not to overwhelm the spare setting and small tree specimens. Colors are neutral and blend with the background, the design detailing is clean and not overly fussy and the signs are positioned to be easily readable, but clearly secondary.
The finished package includes orientation panels, maps, brochure racks, building identification, interpretive panels, donor recognition, specimen identification and interpretation, a flexible and mobile system of changeable signs and two digital kiosks.
