Reflections on Grief, an exhibit about losing a child, opens at President Lincoln's Cottage

Reflections is H+R's fourth - and perhaps our most personal - installation for the Cottage. The exhibit confronts child death, too often considered too difficult to talk about openly, or assumed to be rare. Putting the first-person expressions of modern parents who have lost children alongside Mary and Abraham's own story, this exhibit seeks to connect the Lincolns' grief process with modern experiences. The result is a contemplative memorial both to lost children and to the community of parents who grieve them.
