This art gallery at Georgetown University occupies a former black box theatre space in the historic mid-century Walsh Building. The renovation accommodates a new, state-of-the art exhibit space for the display of works by nationally and internationally-recognized artists. A new entry vestibule and signage facade system designed by H+R establish the presence of the gallery in the neighborhood—visible from even beyond the Georgetown Car Barn and the Key Bridge. A separate conservation-grade HVAC system, digital signage, new energy-efficient lighting, updated security system, reception area and a dedicated art preparation area increases the visibility of the art department and paves the way for future art loans by venerable institutions.
